Leadership: The Ultimate Road-Trip
Effective leadership requires vision, determination and intentional
planning.
Too often many of us expend so much energy worrying about
the future or brewing
about the past that we miss the magic and opportunity of the
present. Using an
automobile road-trip and map analogy, participants will learn
how to navigate the
present and the future with ultimate leadership skills. They
will walk away
with enhanced vision, critical leadership skills, increased
confidence and the
motivation to turn their dreams into reality. The session
concludes with an
inspirational slide show.
Inviting Success: Breaking Barriers
Do you ever wonder why leadership and life feels so difficult?
All too often we are what is standing in the way of achieving
our goals. The good news is we can get out of our own way!!
During this energizing and interactive presentation, you will
discover how to break through your barriers transporting yourself
into the leader and person of your dreams.
Communication: The Cornerstone of
Effective Leadership
Have you ever tried to build rapport without success or have
a conversation come to an abrupt end leaving you wondering
what went wrong? Does it feel like some people don’t
let you communicate with them? A mandate of effective leadership
is skilled communication. When leaders lack essential communication
skills, the result is often low organizational involvement,
poor morale, dissention, and toxic conflict. This workshop
will provide participants with knowledge of communication
traps, how to avoid using them and what tools to put in their
place.
Office Dynamics: Communication Skills
in the Workplace
Do you ever feel like your group or organization is running
around in circles despite all of your best efforts? Effective
communication is often the key to getting on track. A four-minute
play will demonstrate common communication traps found in
many groups or organizations. Issues such as sabotaging, cut-throat
mentality, appeasing and “meetings” before the
actual meetings are addressed. This interactive session explores
methods of improving productivity and wellness in the workplace
through effective communication skills.
Success in College and Beyond
Welcome to an empowering, interactive and humorous program
that participants will not soon forget. Students often come
to campus with anxiety about all the challenges of higher
education both inside and outside of the classroom. This program
covers such areas as making friends, campus involvement, decision-making,
alcohol and drug use, sexuality, choosing a major and individual
identity. Using life lessons, story telling, and quick interactive
segments, participants will learn how to empower themselves
to be authentic and true to their values in the face of outside
influences. Join us today in this fast pace, energizing, inspiring
and skill building program to make each tomorrow your very
best.
Diversity Programs
Building Inclusive Campus or Organizational
Communities
Creating environments that are inclusive of all people requires
intention and action. Often, we first need to examine the
ways we may unintentionally be excluding others before building
new skills in place of the old. This program provides participants
with the opportunity to examine common strategies used to
“get ahead” which impacts inclusion and community
development. Then, new skills will be taught that create a
welcoming environment for all. Participants will leave this
program with skills for inclusive community building which
will soon become a natural way of being.
Next Step Diversity Training
Dr, Arnold will work closely with your students, staff or
organization to foster ongoing growth regarding diversity
issues. Diversity training involves four elements: awareness,
knowledge, skill and action. We often believe that once we
have awareness we can move directly into action. However,
knowledge and skill components are essential to effective
management of diversity related concerns. This training is
provided in the form of retreats, a series of workshops or
several hours in a given day. Dr. Arnold will, with your help,
design a program to move your group to the next level.
Friends, Foes or Advocates: Allies
in the Making
“There are so many people who are determined to do right,
but who are equally determined not to do wrong” (Lillian
Smith). Have you ever been afraid of saying the wrong thing
so say nothing at all? Do you want to do the “right”
thing and yet are concerned about how your actions might be
received? Sometimes our fears of limited knowledge or of being
misunderstood prevent us from being the allies we want to
be. This program examines methods of fostering our own and
others' development as allies while moving beyond theory and
into action.
The Rainbow Connection
While we have made tremendous strides on many college campuses,
we still have plenty of room for growth when it comes to GLBTQ
issues. As the comfort level and visibility of GLBTQ people
increases so does a wave of backlash and violence. Sexual
orientation and gender issues are salient in all aspects of
campus life, from students in and out of the classroom, administrative
and support staff, campus police, to faculty. This program
is tailored to meet the needs of your group, whether, students,
faculty or staff. Issues such as GLBTQ identity development,
creating safe environments, the development of allies, comfort/discomfort
are covered in a supportive and affirming manner.
